What does it mean?
Last No. 228
Produced in January 1954. Last 228 is a Main Collection last, with a medium round toe and generous toe depth. Dating back to the mid 50s, the last was developed to be used for country walking shoes and boots. In 2015, last 228 cemented itself into Crockett & Jones’s legacy, when Radnor in Black Calf appeared in James Bond’s SPECTRE. The rugged Commando sole that often accompanies models made on this last is quite firm during the initial wear. With the outdoor nature of this boot, when fitting, bear in mind that you may want to wear heavier weight socks.
