Shoe Care

Crockett & Jones only uses the finest leathers available. With the correct care and attention your shoes will age well, taking on a greater depth of colour and character that only time can produce. We recommend following our shoe care guidelines regularly. Leather uppers require regular treatment with a good-quality wax polish to protect the leather and give a high shine finish. This should help to prolong the life of the uppers and maintain their appearance. For full details of how to care for your Crockett & Jones shoes, including a video guide, please refer to our Shoe Care section.

Last No. 337

Produced in May 2001. Last 337 is a Hand Grade Collection last with a soft square toe. Deemed a forward thinking last of its time, 337 was one of the longer lasts on offer from Crockett & Jones at the turn of the century. With the likes of last 358 and 373, Crockett & Jones would now classify last 337 as one of the more classic toe shapes on offer that still proves popular today. The 337 collection has been steadily reduced with the introduction of more up-to-date lasts, although we do continue to make a core collection of English classics. Fitting advice from retail… Last 337 will typically fit ½ size larger. Aesthetically it is a slightly softer version of the 348 and 358 lasts.

What does it mean?

Monk Strap

Said to have been developed by an alpine monk in the 15th century, and worn throughout European monasteries, this style was popularised in the 1920s. Unbeknown to many, a Monk strap style hosts similar fitting qualities and construction to a Derby. You could think of a Monk style as a ‘modern day’ Derby, of sorts. With open quarters, and a whole cut vamp and tongue, Monk straps (single and double buckle) are remarkably comfortable on the foot. However, they will not offer the same level of adjustment, due to the absence of laces. The sequence of operations for constructing a Monk is similar to a Derby. Inside and outside Quarters are stitched to a tab point either side of the vamp and the tongue is cut as part of the vamp and is not a separate component.
