Each year the Closing Room of Crockett & Jones is transformed into an impressive Christmas wonderland. Ready to rival Lapland’s very own Santa’s grotto, baubles, fairy lights and every Christmas decoration imaginable (weird and wonderful) are strung up between the factory stanchions with no spare surface in sight! But this isn’t just for fun… teams join together combining their work stations into tinsel fortresses to become the Closing Rooms Christmas Winners of 2018 – this year judged by Jonathan Jones’ Granddaughter, Amara Fox.
2018’s winner combined a Crockett & Jones theme with a popular Christmas song to create ‘The Elves and the Shoemaker, 12 pairs of Christmas Workshop’. Eleven women got into character dressing up as Santa’s elves and a ‘shoemaker’ for judging day – gaining them first place for creativity and company spirit.
Second place, a firm favourite for everyone, was a unicorn themed corner of the Closing Room. This team of eight transformed their work stations into a white, pink and glittery world or Unicorns – complete with handmade unicorn horns and baubles. They even presented Amara with her very own unicorn toy (after the winners had been announced of course)!
Third place chose to stick to with a classic (but very effective) arctic theme, with polar bears, snowy backdrops, fairy lights and icicles hanging from the beams above them. Forth and fifth places also followed a more traditional Christmas theme - using red, white and gold tinsel as their main feature.
An extremely hard competition to judge… highlighting the passion, creativity and skill level of all the women and men in the Closing Room. More importantly they reminded us all the true meaning of Christmas spirit and the family-like feel within Crockett & Jones’ factory.
