The Details - Westbourne
Never to be outdone, the English Oxford will forever prevail. From Spring / Summer 2016, Crockett & Jones has paired two of their most recognizable Oxford styles with the newest additions to their already extensive, leather collection. Westbourne, a best seller amongst the Men’s Main Collection has never been so distinctive, with its signature u-throat design, classic punched toe cap and now in contemporary Blue Burnished Calf.
From The Archives - 1937
As stated in the Foreword ‘In submitting our 1937 catalogue, we would mention that, with the addition of many new and attractive numbers for the coming Spring and Summer, the full range constitutes a practical collection of styles embracing every possible preference.’ We believe Westbourne’s archive ascendant, style ‘G484’ would have been an integral part of this versatile collection.
The Details - Edgware
The second Oxford style to be enhanced by the new additions to the Crockett & Jones leather store is Edgware. Edgware is a sleek and distinguished Men’s Oxford shoe with a subtle medallion punched on the toe, and paired with single leather soles. There is no doubt that Edgware in Grey Burnished Calf, is a style crafted with understated sophistication in mind.
From The Archives - 1930
Pictured in the 1930’s Crockett & Jones ‘Health and Elite Footwear’ catalogue, page 26, proudly sits Model No. 233 described as ‘Gent’s “Health” Dress Goods’. The philosophy as quoted in this illustrative catalgoue lives on today through the constant development, evidenced by Model No. 233's descendant Edgware - 'This reputation has been gained by thirty years of persistent effort to improve our goods, and we may say that we are sparing no pains to maintain this advantage, and to manufacture the best Boots to be obtained in England or elsewhere.’
