The rise of men’s formal shoes teamed with rubber soles is showing no signs of slowing. In today’s sartorial world, it is now deemed acceptable for your select pair of Oxfords to be adorned with a rubber sole of sorts.
Traditionally these soles would be of ‘Dainite’ variety, manufactured by ‘The Harboro Rubber Co.’ in Market Harborough, England. With their familiar studded design and high rubber compound, the ‘Dainite’ sole soon became a Northampton shoe manufacturer’s rubber sole of choice.
With strong family connections between the owners of the two companies, Crockett & Jones and The Harborough Rubber Co. have designed and developed a new sole, unique to Crockett & Jones, aptly named the ‘City Sole’. Offering the formality of a leather sole with sharp edge trimming, a reduced waist and the comfort, practicality and longevity of a rubber sole.
